Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how If It All Ends collects, uses, and handles information when you visit this website, subscribe to the newsletter, or use the comment system.

1. Who we are

If It All Ends is an independent website featuring writing, conversations, videos, and other content.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact:

hello@ifitallends.com

2. Information we collect

We may collect information that you provide directly to us and information collected or generated automatically when you use the website.

Information you provide

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide.

If you leave a comment, we may process the content of your comment, your Google display name, and a unique identifier associated with your Google account.

Information collected automatically

This website uses analytics and technical infrastructure that may collect information such as:

  • pages you visit;
  • approximate geographic location;
  • browser and device information;
  • session and engagement information;
  • referring websites or traffic sources;
  • technical request and security information.

3. How we use information

Information collected through this website may be used to:

  • operate and maintain the website;
  • understand how visitors use the website;
  • improve content and user experience;
  • send newsletters you have requested;
  • measure engagement with emails and content;
  • provide and authenticate the comment system;
  • protect the website from abuse or security threats.

4. Newsletter and email

Newsletter subscriptions are managed using Kit, an email marketing service.

When you subscribe, your email address may be processed and stored by Kit for the purpose of managing your subscription and delivering emails.

We only send newsletter or marketing emails to people who have subscribed or otherwise provided permission to receive them.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option. You may unsubscribe at any time.

On the English homepage, eligible visitors may be shown a newsletter prompt automatically. If the prompt is dismissed, a record used to determine when it may be shown again is kept in browser local storage for 30 days.

When a successful subscription is detected, a subscription indicator may be stored in that browser. This value does not contain your email address.

5. Google Analytics

This website loads Google Analytics 4 only when a visitor consents to analytics, so we can understand how visitors find and interact with the site.

If you decline or have not yet made a choice, the analytics tag is not downloaded and no Google Analytics measurement request is sent.

Google Analytics may collect information such as page views, session information, approximate location, and browser and device information.

Whether scrolling, outbound-link interactions, and other enhanced measurement events are collected depends on the Google Analytics property settings.

Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies to measure website activity.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics 4 may use cookies to measure website activity.

Embedded content from Spotify and Google/YouTube may also use cookies or similar technologies when you choose to load that external content.

This website also uses browser local storage, which is distinct from cookies, to remember certain preferences such as newsletter prompts and privacy choices.

You can manage or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings.

Browser settings do not replace consent where consent is required by applicable law.

7. Comments and Google Sign-In

This website uses Google Sign-In to authenticate users who choose to leave comments.

For the comment system, we use your Google account's unique identifier and display name to authenticate your account and associate comments with you.

We do not intentionally store your Google email address in the comments database.

Comments, your display name, your Google account identifier, and the time the comment was submitted may be stored using Cloudflare infrastructure.

A Google sign-in credential may be stored temporarily in your browser's session storage so that you remain signed in while using the comment feature.

You may delete comments that you have written. The site administrator may also remove comments where necessary for moderation, safety, or operation of the service.

8. Advertising and Google AdSense

This website may use Google AdSense to display advertising.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and analyse advertisements.

Google may use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.

Depending on your consent choices and applicable law, advertising may be personalised or non-personalised.

You can manage your personalised advertising preferences through Google Ads Settings.

Google and other advertising providers may process information such as cookies, IP addresses, browser and device information, and advertising interaction data in connection with ad delivery and measurement.

9. Service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate parts of this website.

These currently include or may include:

  • Google Analytics for website analytics and measurement;
  • Google AdSense for advertising and advertising measurement;
  • Google Sign-In for authenticating users of the comment system;
  • Kit for newsletter subscriptions and email delivery;
  • Cloudflare for website hosting, delivery, security, DNS, email routing, Workers, and comment data storage;
  • Spotify for audio players in published Stories;
  • Google/YouTube for optional video players when a Story includes a YouTube URL.

Spotify and YouTube embedded players are not created until you choose to load that external content.

YouTube players are provided only when a Story includes a YouTube URL and, where configured, use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain.

When you load external content or follow a provider link, the provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, information about the page containing the content, and interaction information.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services and operate under their own privacy and data protection policies.

10. Sharing of information

We do not currently sell your personal information.

Information may be shared with service providers when necessary to operate the website, provide requested services, comply with legal obligations, or protect the website and its users.

11. Data retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to the settings and retention practices of the services we use.

Newsletter subscriber information may be retained until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or it is otherwise no longer needed.

Comments and related account identifiers may be retained for as long as needed to operate the comment system and may be deleted when the relevant comment or associated data is removed.

12. International data processing

Some of the service providers used by this website may process or store information in countries other than the country where you live.

As a result, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

13. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, or deletion.

You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those emails.

If you withdraw analytics consent, further Google Analytics measurement is stopped and this website removes related analytics cookies where possible.
